ABSTRACT
Cross infection can easily occur during dental treatment, it can also be
prevented easily by observing absolute aseptic technique. Aseptic techniques
are procedure performed geared at reducing the chance of cross infection to
occur, this range from hand washing to vaccination
A descriptive cross section study was conducted among 57 third and fourth
year's students in the UoNDH. Convenient sampling method was used. The
objective of the study was to evaluate their knowledge, and practices of
aseptic technique. A self administered questionnaire was used to collect the
data.
The data was analyzed by the use of computer statistical program (SSPS
version 12) Frequencies was run, these include; percentage, means, standard
deviation range and Proportion.
Results; The result indicated that 96% of the respondents had adequate
knowledge regarding aseptic technique but the practice was not satisfactory.
Conclusion: From the result on this study, dental students have good
knowledge on aseptic technique however they are not practicing what they
known.
Recommendation: There is need to educate student more on the
importance of practicing aseptic technique and to be reporting cases of
pricking while performing they duty. The school to provide adequate
facilities such as eye glasses to enhance cross infection control.
