ORAL HEALTH SEEKING BEHAVIOUR AMONG PATIENTS VISITING UNIVERSITY OF NAIROBI, DENTAL SCHOOL

Oral disease is a major global concern due to their high prevalence.Oral health seeking behaviour can affect the progression of disease. Hence it is crucial to identify their symptoms early and seek dental help. Due to inadequate information on oral health seeking behavior in Kenya, there is therefore need to investigate barriers to treatment seeking
objective
To determine oral health seeking behavior among patients visiting dental school U.O.N
Study design
This will be a descriptive cross sectional study
Setting
The study will be conducted at Dental school, U.O.N.
Materials and methods
A sample of two hundred and seventeen randomly selected patients visiting the oral diagnosis clinic will be interviewed on relevant questions relating to the objectives using self-administered questionnaires.
Data analysis
All collected data will be analyzed using SPSS and results will be presented in the form of tables and bar graphs
Benefits of the study
The results obtained will provide for placement of strategies to increase public knowledge of dental conditions and the importance of early treatment seeking and also come up with ways to overcome the barriers to treatment seeking, thus striving to improve the oral health of the general public.
